Medical costs no insurance

I am 41 years old and have RA. I need a hip replacement but until I can do that I am getting shots to keep it under control. I lost my job in Jan 2010 so have not had insurance since then. Does anyone know or have any ideas about how to get help while I am out of work with no insurance. I have tried applying for SSI but was turned down. I have been looking for a job but nothing yet and even when I do, the preexisting will not be covered for the first year. This is very frustrating and I am not able to get the care that I need during this time. ThanksAngela

My 24 y/o daughter has been having symptoms for a few years now. My sister was diagnosed at age 30. Her 8 y/o grandson was diagnosed 1 year ago. We have grandparents with it as well. My daughter works as a waitress and has no insurance. I am a nurse and know that the longer you leave active RA untreated the more permanent damage may result. what specific tests should we ask for and any idea how much this might cost uninsured?

Insurance change makes Cortisone Injections prohibitively expensive...

I see these boards are not well-attended, so I am throwing this up on a lark, but I could use creative suggestions on how to control hip arthritis pain without the help of Cortisone Injections. I am continuing to take the Voltaren (75 mg.), twice a day, but maybe a change in NSAIDs could achieve better pain relief??Thanks,Steve
