I was given the "advanced arthritis" diagnosis about 6wks ago and I was doing pretty well there for a while after the cortisone shot, in fact -- I was almost walking w/o a cane about 1 wk ago. Then Friday nite I went to bed well after (doing some knee exercises recommended by the Orthopaedic Connection) but Saturday I woke up very stiff -- I was moving like a very, very old person. Very stifly and unable to straigten either back of the knee and the outside of both knees, my calves and thighs were tight. I thought the old adage if you are sore, it's b/c u haven't moved those muscles in a while so exercised again Sat once in the am and once in the evening and now it's Tuesday and I am moving so slow;can't stand for any time frame at all; my knees are bending but with pain. HELP!! I don't know what to do or what I did.

RE: Tai Chi Video/DVD?
Pinkie (1/5/2009)
I've heard that tai chi is supposed to be a good exercise for RA. Our chapters have event and programs schedules that list when an where they are and how to sign up.

I have seen several articles online about the Tai Chi programs. There are several sites (I just googled tai chi) that have animated moves that will get you started. The one I like best uses a skeleton so you can see how the bones and joints are supposed to move.

Good luck to you my friend!

Chris

Tai Chi Video/DVD?

I've heard that tai chi is supposed to be a good exercise for RA.
