It is once again time to remember our friends in this community and their prayer requests on Saturday at noon - wherever you may be.As you will note in the posting below this, McGirk has requested prayers for a young friend with severe ulcerative colitis. This young girl, named Taylor, is in need of surgery for her chronic illness. Also hold McGirk and her daughter in your prayers - as though it may be a milder form - they, too, have the same illness. As Captex has posted, he now has Addison's Disease - a disease where his adrenal gland no longer works. He has suffered through so much in the last year or so. Please remember him.It is nice to hear again from our young friend, Katie, but she is struggling to find a medication that will help get her disease under control.I personally would like to thank you all for your prayers for my sister during her recent hospitalizations. Deb is an inspiration to me with her resilience and attitude. This week she played bingo, went and got her hair done (what girl wouldn't like that!), and participated in Zumba dancing! About 4 weeks ago, we thought God was possibly going to take her. However, she has proven she is still needed here. Thank you all for your prayers and concern for her. There are many in our community struggling with various different problems. Please remember them. If you have a special request you would like us to pray about, please leave it here. We will be more than glad to pray for it on Saturday - or for that matter - at any other time. You are important to us and we will hold you up.Pam

Prayers for a Young Friend

One of the girls in my daughter's dance company has severe Ulcerative Colitis. No treatment, including biologics, have helped her and she is having the first of two surgeries tomorrow to completely remove her colon and eventually build a permanent "solution." My daughter and I both have a milder form of UC, which is why I feel led to ask for prayers here for this 17 year old named Taylor. Would you please pray that this drastic measure will give Taylor her life back and that there would be no complications? Her second surgery is scheduled for July, I think. Thank you so much.

Saturday Prayers Requests - May 12

Dear Friends -Please remember on Saturday to pray for those of our friends in special need. Continue to keep Great Granny and her granddaughter in your prayers. Great Granny is having a lot of problems with inflammation and using her hands and wrists. Some extra prayers for healing and strength are needed for her. There are so many in our community in need right now; and, unfortunately, with my recent absence I'm not up to speed on everyone's needs. Please remember Captex with all of his struggles right now. There are many new members who can really use some extra support and prayer as they get used to their recent diagnosis and to the new way of life. This weekend - in honor of Mother's Day - I'll be saying a special prayer for all the women in our community. Not only those who are mothers - but all who are nuturers. If you have a special prayer request, please leave it here. We'll gladly pray for your needs. Just know that your requests will be read and prayed for by your friends here.May you all be blessed with a sense of hope, inner peace, and comfort in the days to come.

Saturday Prayer Requests--May 5

Another week has gone by and it's time to think about praying for each other's needs on Saturday at noon. This week, I ask that we continue to pray for Pam14 and her sister--still no word, so I'm a bit concerned. Let's also remember Great Granny's little granddaughter who is battling both cancer and the horrific treatments. I'm also requesting prayer for my neighbor/friend who has been so good to our family. Pastor John has suffered several small strokes and been hospitalized last week, but he still managed to bring the grandkids a box of Jelly Bellies last night. Please pray that the drs. would find the right treatments for him. There are many silent requests in our community that are prayed for even without there being specifically requested. I'm thinking of those in extreme pain, those with severe systemic complications in addition to joints, those who have been so quiet that we are left to worry, those who are recovering from surgery, those still struggling to get through yet another day with all the issues that having a chronic illness brings. If you have requests or praise reports, we will be honored to pray for and with you. As always, everyone here is in my heart and prayers.

Saturday Prayer Requests--April 28

It is our honor and privilege to pray for each other on Saturdays at noon, wherever you live. If you have specific needs or praise, please do let us know.I would ask that we keep Pam14 and her sister Deb in our thoughts and prayers. I have no new info, but I am concerned about Pam's absence here. May God give Pam the strength and health to deal with whatever she is dealing with. Also, Great Granny's little granddaughter is in the most difficult phase of cancer treatment. Let's pray for her strength and endurance also.We rejoice that some here have found immediate good results from their meds. This is fantastic news for those individuals, but also brings hope for the rest of us.As always, every one here is in my thoughts and prayers.:)

Saturday Prayer Requests--April 21

With the passing of another week, it's time to remind everyone about praying for each other on Saturdays at noon, wherever you are. Please continue to remember Pam14 and her sister Deb in our prayers. I haven't heard from Pam recently, so I don't know any details yet. But I fear that things are still very complicated with Deb's condition and that our dear Pam is truly suffering with out of control pain and no help from other family members.Let's also remember all newbies here who are still searching for a diagnosis, while in unremitting pain, those who are trying to cope with new meds or finding any med to help, those with additional auto-immune diseases in the process of diagnosis (such as Txnana,) those facing financial obstacles in getting the treatment they need, and those who are being so quiet here that we fear for their health (such as Captex.) I would also ask that we keep Great Granny's little granddaughter on the list during her battle against cancer. We rejoice that we have heard from a few who haven't posted in quite a while (such as Lulu, MaryFran, Roger, and Ladybugz. Please don't be offended if I've forgotten anyone.) I would like to report that our 21 yr. old daughter who began experiencing frightening, extreme dyslexia after taking Cymbalta is doing better now, several weeks after tapering and stopping. The dyslexic episodes are still there, but better than they were. We are thankful to God and thankful to those here who prayed for her.If you have a prayer request or praise report, please share it. We are honored and privileged to pray for you and yours. As always, everyone here is in my thoughts and prayers.:)

Saturday Prayer Requests--April 14

Another week has just flown by for me, but I did want to be sure that our weekly prayer thread was covered. As is our tradition, any and all prayer requests are prayed for on Saturdays at noon wherever you live. Also, some of us do pray for the needs of this community on a daily basis. This thread just gives a voice to specific needs and praise reports. God does know our needs even without our mentioning them. Please remember to continue praying for Pam14 and her special sister Deb. Deb is back in the hospital, which means that Pam is right there with her to be her voice and advocate. With no other family members stepping up to the plate, Pam is alone to be in the hospital 12 or more hours per day. Pam's own RA pain is "out-of-control" and she is in desperate need of relief and strength to get through this. Let's all keep our dear friend and her sister in our hearts and prayers. If you have a prayer request or praise report, please let us know. It is our honor and privilege to pray for each other.

Saturday Prayer Requests--April 7

As we approach Easter, what an incredible range of emotion we feel, as we come to grips with the depth of love God in Christ had and continues to have for us! In the midst of the ugliness of humanity is the most amazingly perfect beauty!Although Pam14 didn't ask me to post this week for her, I'm sure she is more than overwhelmed physically herself and with trying to catch up at work after missing a few days to stay in the hospital with her sister. Let's all remember to keep Deb and Pam in our prayers. Likewise, let's remember to lift up Awma who is struggling with both the after effects of surgery on both hips and the frustrations of applying for disability. I would also request that we continue to pray for Great Granny's precious young granddaughter who is battling cancer. Please let us know if you have a prayer request to add to the list.My prayer for everyone this week is that we, in the midst of our own varying degrees of suffering, will lift up our eyes and see the glory of spring all around us. May we all be truly thankful for the gift of eternal life that God extends to us all. And may we each take the opportunity to go out of our way to be a blessing to someone in need. Happy Easter, everyone!:)

Saturday Prayer Requests--March 31

For the newbies and lurkers, we gladly join together at noon each Saturday to pray for each other and our loved ones. Sometimes, there are several urgent requests and/or praise reports. Rest assured, that even if no one replies here to your request, there are faithful friends lifting up your needs to the One who knows our hearts and minds. This week please remember Genny and her family, as well as Pam3's special sister Deb. She is back in the hospital with complications from her tube. In addition to flaring from the stress and fatigue of being in the hospital with Deb, Pam will be faced with difficult decisions regarding her sister's ongoing care. I would also like to ask for prayers for my family--three of my kids and one grandchild. I won't go into specifics, but God already knows the serious, challenging circumstances. You can see everything blooming and it's a reminder all around us of new life. It's nice to see some of our friends who haven't been around in a while posting. I give thanks for that! This time of year can also be difficult on many with RA. The temperature swings and weather fronts often cause more flares. I'll be holding you all in my prayers to feel peace and comfort. If you have any special needs - or joys - you would like for us to pray for this Saturday, please leave them here. God does know our needs without our asking, but it does glorify Him when we go to Him in prayer on behalf of others. The needs of our community are great, even without mentioning specific names. All here are challenged by a horrible chronic illness. Many have loved ones who are suffering with some issue. Many have the challenge of working, sometimes just so they can have insurance to cover their own RA. Some are grieving the loss of loved ones. Some, in their desperation for relief, have been scammed by snake oil companies. Many suffer with debilitating systemic issues, as well as side effects from the only meds that can treat them. Some are facing surgery, recovering from surgery, and seeking diagnoses of new and frightening autoimmune diseases. Many of our friends have been silent for sooo long that we can't help but worry. I'll mention a few names, but I can't remember them all, so please don't be offended if I've left you out. Please post other names here that you feel are in need. Here are a few I know of in need of prayer or who are not joining in here for a while.Great Granny's little granddaughter, Gramma Ellie, Txnana, Maire, Lulu, Ladybugz, Captex, Crazy Meme, Awma. I know there are many, many more. Please add more names and/or your own prayer request. It is our privilege to pray for all in our community. It's so wonderful to see some signs of early spring and lighter days. It should lift all of our spirits. This week as we pray for the needs of our friends, let's in particular hold those friends of ours who haven't been around in a while. There's a number of them. Even if you don't know to pray for them by name, God will know who they are and what they need. Just hold them in your prayers. Please continue to hold McGirk's 21-year-old daughter who has been experiencing some scarey side effects from meds taken for back pain. Also keep Genny's DIL in your prayers who was recently diagnosed with scoliosis. Continue to hold Gramma Ellie in your prayers as she recovers from foot surgery - and also grieves her recent loss of her SIL. And, of course, remember our Great Granny and her special little granddaughter who is battling cancer at such a young age.During this season of Lent, we can look inside of ourselves, too, for self-improvement. McGirk's comment last week was wonderful and so true. There are many here - and in our lives - who silently suffer from conditions not made aware to others. Let's try to help them see a glimpse of God this week. Please feel free to leave your prayer requests here - and for your loved ones. Know that we will be praying and holding your requests close to our hearts. Many blessings to all of you and may you feel God's everlasting presence with you today - and in the days to come.

Saturday Prayer Requests--March 3

This week as we stop to pray for each other on Saturday at noon, we remember that everyone in our midst is needy, in one way or another. We don't really live in isolation and have only our own needs to think of. Most of us are connected with others who, in some way, add to the stress and challenge of each day. There are so many invisible needs among us. However, God knows our needs, even if we choose not to post them here. This week let's remember those who may have been affected by the severe storms across the midwest. May they all be safe and unharmed. And let's also remember to look for the joy that God regularly sprinkles into our lives. At times, these sprinkles may be almost invisible, but they are there, nonetheless, if we but look for them.If you or your loved one needs prayer, please let us know, as it is our honor to pray for and with you all. Also, we all do love to hear about answered prayers and blessings.:)

Special Request for Prayer

I would like to ask for your prayers. I don't have children and my two dogs are my family. My oldest pup was diagnosed with lymphoma a couple months ago. She fought very hard, but her overall condition worsened over the past two weeks. I had to help her cross the Bridge Sunday morning. This was my first dog that really belonged only to me. She has literally been my shadow for the past 11 years. I am having a difficult time dealing with her being gone. However, it has been even more challenging because some of her suffering could likely have been managed if the oncologist had just listened to me. I knew we had some secondary issues going on and they were completely dismissed. This oncologist is very young, and quite arrogant. It was only when we went to the ER clinic this weekend that the wonderful vet there knew what to look for and discovered what was really going on with her, but unfortunately it was too late. I know she suffered needlessly. The stress has hit me both physically from getting up and down off the floor tending to her and emotionally. Obviously, that has had an impact on my RA. My house is so quiet and empty. She was a very vocal dog. It's just very difficult, and the younger dog is having trouble dealing with her absence, too. Thank you for your prayers. The power of prayer is so incredibly strong. We can make a difference in helping each other in this way.We have a number of our friends here in need of special prayer: Gramma Ellie is grieving the recent loss of her sister in law; DonnaT is grieving the loss of her beloved pet and being a caregiver to her mother; Captex is struggling with his Remicade infusions and needs relief and strength; Awma has gone through one hip surgery and is to have another; Maire is struggling with treatments and meds; Bear is having problems dealing with morning pain/stiffness; Genny is so concerned about problems her son - who also has RA - is struggling with; newbies are overwhelmed and in pain; and the list goes on. Please excuse my lack if I've forgotten anyone. There are so many here in need of special prayers of God's healing, comforting touch. If you have a special prayer request for us, please leave it here and we will gladly pray for it for you. We are so very blessed to have found each other - and to share the bond that has grown among us.The season of Lent is now upon us. For about 30 years I served as a High School Sunday School teacher and youth advisor for my church. We always had special Lenten projects. Our motto was: "The only glimpse of God some people may ever see is through our acts of kindness." As I am reminded of this motto, it makes me realize I need to live by it more. So, I intend to use this Lenten season to spread more random acts of kindness - to those in need of a pick-me-up and to those who have been there to pick me up. What will you do this Lenten season?God bless each of you - and may you find peace, comfort, and healing in His holy presence.

Saturday Prayer Requests - February 11

Dear Friends -Praise be to God! Yet another week has gone by and we have so many blessings to celebrate. This week we've heard some good news here - McGirk's daughter has gotten a diagnosis. Roger has posted and is doing well. Others have shared positive outcomes. It's good for all of us to hear some good news and to hear of successes others are having. Please feel free this week to comment on blessings in your life this week. Let us rejoice with you and praise God for those blessings. Also, though, we are aware that there are those in our community who are struggling - struggling with medication side effects, disease control, loneliness, feelings of isolation and others not understanding their conditions. Please remember them in your prayers this Saturday. Please also feel free to post any special prayer requests you may have or need. We'll gladly keep your requests in our prayers. We all live among others who cannot begin to understand what we endure 24/7. Even the media who mention RA are often misinformed. To make matters worse, our meds don't work or can cause terrible side effects--that is, assuming we even have access to the meds we need to control the inflammation that ravages our bodies. Both drug companies and lack of transportation contribute to these issues. Some here struggle with overwhelming fatigue. Some are at the mercy of those who will decide their disability issue. The good news is that we have a wonderful community here to uphold and support each other through the rough times. And best of all, we have a loving God who hears our prayers before we ever put them to voice or thought. This week we rejoice with Genny's good news about her granddaughter's recovery from a bad concussion. Julie feels better since her SI joint injections. Please remember Awma's hip surgery and recovery, as well as Gramma Ellie's foot surgery. And let's keep praying for Great Granny's little granddaughter battling cancer. Do you have prayer requests or answered prayers? We would love to pray for your specific needs. Every Saturday, at noon your time, wherever you may be, we stop to say prayers for our friends here who are in need. It's a wonderful tradition started some time ago by Great Granny - who's been off helping care for her granddaughter who is currently going through chemo treatments. We have some friends here with upcoming surgeries, some struggling with getting the right drug combination, some newbies trying to adjust to being diagnosed, some having a difficult time dealing with insurance companies, and some who are suffering ill effects of their illness. We ask that you pray for them on Saturday. If you have a special request, something that troubles your heart or needs prayer, please feel free to leave your request here. We'll gladly hold you up in prayer. Also, if you have experienced something for which you are particularly grateful this new year, we'll gladly say prayers of thanks with you!We all found this community for the same reason - to look for support with a chronic pain disease. When you come here, you find so much more. You can find friends who really can understand what you are going through and who will help you. Do you have something troubling you right now? Let us be there for you.Take care, my friends, and may you feel the healing, comforting touch of God's loving arms around you this week.

Saturday Prayer Requests 1/14/12

Welcome to several newbies who have posted, as well as those who visit this site without logging in or joining. In keeping with the tradition begun by Great Granny, we join together on Saturdays at noon (your time) to pray for each other and our loved ones. We also rejoice when prayers have been answered. Please remember GG's young granddaughter who is battling cancer and GG who is struggling with this stress in addition to having several chronic diseases. It seems that several in our midst are mourning the loss of loved ones over the holidays or have loved ones with chronic illness/disabling conditions. Also several have continue to be plagued with severe systemic effects from RA such as Maire, Pam3, Meme, and Captex. I'm sure there are others I can't think of at the moment, so please post others I haven't mentioned. Awma is facing surgery on her hips. If you have a prayer request or praise report, please don't be shy in letting us know. It is our privilege to unite in prayer for you.:)

Saturday Prayer Requests--Jan. 7

In the tradition began by our friend, Great Granny, we continue the opportunity to pray for each other every Saturday at noon, whatever time zone you live in. We pray for the needs of our members and their loved ones and rejoice with those whose prayers have been answered. Please let us know how we can pray for you.Let's continue to remember GG's little granddaughter who is battling cancer at the tender age of seven. Also GG can use our prayers as she struggles with her own health during this difficult time.Let's pray for those who are trying to find the right meds to help them cope with both the physical and emotional issues that accompany chronic illness. Many here have no friends or family who really try to understand their suffering. May everyone who ventures here find a listening ear, kind words of support, and the opportunity to share their experiences with those who understand. As this new year gets underway, it is a time when many feel obligated to make resolutions that may seem impossible to even bother attempting. Life with a chronic illness is indeed overwhelming. And with the challenges we face, it may seem pointless to make shallow promises we can't begin to keep. As I read my church newsletter this week, I was impressed with the pastor's theme that we need to remember that our view of time is very different than that of our Creator's. The world we live in operates under the seasons and rhythms set in place by a perfect being. Time is so much longer than we can fathom. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't set goals to improve ourselves and rise to the challenge to make our world a better place. Each person's resolution is based upon a different need and different situation. We may not be able to make great treks, but we will never know if we don't take the first shaky steps on the path toward improvement. The important thing to remember, is that alone, we can't do anything, much less that which seems too difficult, or even impossible. But with God on our path, holding us up, anything is possible.:)Please let us know how we can pray for you and yours this week.

Saturday Prayer Requests - December 31

Dear Friends -As a reminder, every Saturday - at noon wherever you may be - we stop to pray for the concerns of our friends here on the forum. Please feel free to leave your requests here and we will gladly pray for them.We have seen quite a bit of newbies lately - and they certainly can use our prayers for hope, understanding, and finding a good drug regimen. Many of our members continue to struggle with pain and immobility. Some are awaiting surgery in the new year. Others find struggles with secondary conditions that appear after or with the RA. Many have problems tolerating medicines. Please remember to pray for those in need. If you cannot remember names but remember reading about them, don't worry. God will know them by name. As this year ends, we can give thanks for the strides many have made. It's been a blessing to hear from some missing members who have come back to give us good news. We can rejoice with them and it gives those suffering hope. My prayer for each of you is to find peace, hope, and comfort in your lives. We will gladly acknowledge your requests. We continue to pray for Great Granny's granddaughter - and for Great Granny, herself, through all her trials. Know that we continue to hold your family up, Great Granny. There are many amongst us in need of our prayers. Many who are suffering from uncontrolled pain, many who have been newly diagnosed and are feeling overwhelmed and alone, many who have complications from RA with lung issues and other auto-immune diseases. Please remember them this week.Let's also take the time to praise God for the blessings we've seen listed here. Those who have found new, competent, understanding doctors and providers; those who have found drug combinations that help manage their RA; those who have wonderful support networks; those who have overcome obstacles in the last year and continue to be among us here.My prayer for each of you, dear friends, is that you find hope, comfort, and happiness in this holiday season and in the New Year. We also love to share your joy in answered prayers and even miracles, such as the one Pam 14 recently experienced!:) Please remember Great Granny's young granddaughter who is undergoing treatment for cancer, as well as GG and her daughter who share this stressful experience. Many in our community are suffering various trials: physically, emotionally, relationship-wise, and financially. Please pray especially for those who are facing uncertain diagnoses and those who continue to suffer the complications and ravages of severe disease and disability. Also, let's remember to pray for those who have been too quiet lately, as we suspect their quietness relates to an acceleration of disease activity. Above all, let's remember to look for and expect miracles. Although often not obvious, they are all around us, but sometimes require us to look with the eyes of faith and hearts filled with hope. May we remember to thank God for all our blessings, and especially for His greatest gift to us. And may this week before Christmas find us sharing and giving the best of ourselves to everyone whose paths we cross. I couldn't imagine what it was. As I opened it and read it, tears streamed down my face. It was a poem I had written to my mom exactly 20 years ago. My husband came behind me, saw it, and was just as amazed as I was. Neither one of us had seen it there before. My mom finished her journey on earth 8 years and 5 months ago. I still miss her and she's been on my mind so much lately. Guess she just wanted to send me a message that she was still with me. It's so hard to believe it's getting so close to Christmas. For our newbies out there, each week at Saturday - at noon wherever we may be - we pray for the needs and concerns of our friends here. Please continue to hold Great Granny and her precious granddaughter (who is fighting cancer at a tender young age) in your prayers. We all certainly miss hearing from Great Granny - with her wisdom and thoughts - and pray she'll be back with us soon.We seem to have so many in our community who are struggling with excaberating pain lately. Please remember them in your prayers. As well, we have those who have children with RA - and what could be harder than watching a sick child. Remember them, too. There are those who have breathing difficulties and other complications from this disease. Also, those who await a more definitive diagnosis. We need to place them all in God's arms for comfort, healing, and hope at this holiday season. If you have a special request you would like for us to pray about, please feel free to post it here. She has suffered some unexpected complications from the treatment. Let's pray that she will be delivered from these and that she will be able to enjoy just being a kid at Christmastime. And likely from the stress and busy schedule of caring for a child with cancer, Great Granny herself has seen a terrible increase in her RA symptoms. She needs our prayers, as well.In our community there are many who are suffering from various circumstances and those who are rejoicing from answered prayers. If you have prayer requests or praise reports, please let us know. It is our privilege to pray for and with you. This season is all about giving. May we generously give of ourselves to all the lives we come in contact with. And when circumstances dictate that we are on the receiving end, may we graciously accept the offerings of others. We have those struggling to get their disease under control, those in severe pain, those with breathing difficulties, those with complications from meds, those with financial struggles, along with those who continue to care for others in their lives while they take care of themselves. Let's pray for all of them this week.If you have a request for which you would like us to hold up in prayer, please post it here. Please remember Captex's brother-in-law, who is critically ill from a massive heart attack, for his sister, and also for Captex, himself. Please read last week's prayer posting by McGirk for Captex's update on his brother-in-law, if you have not already seen it.There are many of our friends who are suffering right now - from pain, from fatigue, from breathing issues, from costly medical expenses, from emotional strain from this disease. There are also those who will be finding this holiday season difficult because of the death of loved ones. Please remember them.At this time, we give thanks for the improvement Great Granny's granddaughter has experienced in her fight with cancer. We also are grateful for those who support us through our difficult times, for loving companions, for remissions, for caring and competent doctors, for sunshine days, and for the friends we have found on this forum. This week, in particular, let us look for the abundance of gratitudes we can offer up to our God.If you have a special prayer request you would like to have us raise in prayer for you, please leave it here. We'll gladly be praying for you on Saturday - or any other time - as far as that goes. I once posted a scenario on this forum when I first joined of the difference between heaven & hell - as portrayed by Leo Buscaglia. Hell is a place where there are long banquet tables, filled with all the delicacies one could want - and yet everyone there is starving. They have six foot long forks and cannot figure out how to feed themselves. Heaven has the same long banquet tables, filled with all the delicacies one could want - and yet everyone there is satisfied and full. Because - my friends - in heaven they use their 6 foot long forks to feed each other. That's the priceless gift of this forum. We are able to help each other through our life journeys with this common illness.Blessings to you all this Thanksgiving. May you truly find the many blessings God has bestowed upon you. I would ask that we continue to pray for Great Granny's young granddaughter who is receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Great Granny and her daughter are also in need of prayer support. Please remember to pray for those who are facing surgery or invasive treatment, those suffering severe systemic affects of disease, and those who receive little support from loved ones. With the change in the weather, my prayer is that our weakened immune systems would withstand the new crop of germs and infections that seek to attack us. In this season of thanksgiving, I pray that we would be made aware of all the many blessings we have, no matter how mundane and trivial they may be. A soft blanket and a mug of cocoa or hot soup are blessings we may take for granted, but would surely be missed if we could not have them. May we have thankful hearts and eyes to see the both the bounty we have received, and the empty neediness of many in our world. May we have kind words and giving hands to reach out to them.If you have a prayer request or an answered prayer to share, please let us know. Some are battling with medications, out of control pain, breathing difficulties, facing surgeries, chronic fatigue, or emotional struggles from the debilitating effects of RA. Please remember them in your prayers - for it is this common illness that has brought us all together here.As we've now reached this month of November, remember to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives. Some of our friends have found remission; many have wonderful, competent, and compassionate doctors to help them through; there are family members and friends who are there for us; employers who are understanding and make allowances; and the list goes on. I can not take powerful anti-inflamatories, and the doctors are very limited on what they can give me because these medications send my liver emzymes through the roof. And NO ONE understands the excruciating pain except all of us that have this disease. When I had JA, it was basically Osteo, but now as an adult I have both Osteo and Rhumetoid Arthritis, and I already have one side effect which is Rozasia on my face. I use creams and an anti-biotic to keep it under control the best I can, but when I have flare ups I look pretty bad. I will soon be changing over to a new Rheumetologist because the Azulfidine caused my red blood cell count to go down, then she put me on Pretizone and once again my liver emzymes were very, very high. After my visit with her, I told her I was sorry it was taking me so long to get down from the patient observation table, and she yelled out, "You have had this all your life. You should be used to it. Nothing has changed!!" She was out of line and I fired her. Yes, I have had this all my life but you NEVER get used to it, and the amount of time I have given her to help me, something should have changed. After that experience with this doctor who is origionally from India, not only was there a severe language barrier, but she never said anything to give me encouragement. I walked out of her office feeling so helpless, like it was my fault I hav OA and RA. Maybe it is time to just call it quits, and make all the pain go away. Since I have Arthritis, Depression, and am basically a shut in, all I want is some friends that understand and I can cry on thier shoulder, or someone to talk to me on the phone. I guess it is just time to throw in the towel and quite.:crying:

Saturday Prayer Requests 10/29

Each week we offer the opportunity for members to request prayer for themselves and loved ones to be prayed for at noon your time on Saturdays. As Great Granny is on a leave of absence to help her daughter care for her granddaughter, I am filling in this week. Please continue to hold Great Granny, her daughter, and precious granddaughter in your prayers. As McGirk informed this week, her granddaughter has begun treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Great Granny truly appreciates your prayers for her family. Also, please hold Awma's husband in your prayers (today if you read this) as he is having surgery for prostate cancer today. I'm sure Awma could use some strength to help her up at this time, as well. There are many friends here who are struggling and in need of intercessions. Some are new and struggling with the fear and overwhelming feeling of starting new meds. Others have been here quite a while and continue to struggle to get relief from the pain that plagues them. There are our friends, too, whose RA has spread out to cause breathing and lung problems, heart issues, skin issues, and other effects. Praying for each other at noon (your time) on Saturdays gives everyone in our community the opportunity to post specific prayer requests, support and encourage those who may be struggling, and post reports of answered prayer. A number of us feel this is a vital part of our community with far-reaching effects. Please let us know if you have needs that we can pray for. Praise reports are always welcome.:)This week let's be praying continuously for Great Granny's young granddaughter who is in the hospital to receive treatment for cancer. The first two phases of treatment will be especially grueling, as the doctors seek to stop the leukemia in its tracks. Please pray for endurance and healing for this child, and emotional and physical strength for her mom and grandmom (Great Granny) as they begin this long journey of hope and healing.Let's also remember our members who are struggling with finding the right meds, those who are soon facing surgery, and those who feel frustrated and hopeless due to poor support from their rheumies. If you have any special requests, please let us know. This week, I'm asking if you'd pray for my darling granddaughter. She just turned 7 (Sept. 16th). Tomorrow, she is having a lymph gland removed from her neck for biopsy. She saw a pediatric surgeon today (the second one) who called in a pediatric oncologist. Needless to say, her mother (my daughter) is not handling this well at all. This is her only child, and she was almost 35 when her baby was born. Right now, I'm doing o.k. I don't know if that's because I'm still trying to deal with the loss of my mother/sister/friend, or if I have just accepted the fact that this special, precious child is going to be just fine, regardless of the outcomes of the biopsy. Right now, she's very upset about the surgery because she will miss school tomorrow. She loves school and loves her teacher. She gets very upset if she has to miss school, even for a few hours. I appreciate your prayers and well wishes. As always, all of you are in my prayers. Three years ago Tonya lost her husband. He suffered a bizarre, long-term mental reaction to anti-malaria meds that he took for a mission trip to Africa. This young, dynamic pastor ended up committing suicide. And just this weekend, her 22 yr. old son and his girlfriend were found dead in what was an apparent murder/suicide. This family has surely lived a horrible nightmare over the past three years and I'm especially worried about Collin. He was in my preschool for 4 yrs. He has always been a very serious, sensitive child. I would so appreciate your prayers for healing for Tonya and her two kids. Our community has really been rocked by numerous suicides among teens and young adults in the last several years. When this latest news hit, names were not immediately released, and I know I was not alone in fearing that someone I knew had lost a child.

Prayer Requests: 10-1-11

Every Saturday at noon your time we pray for members of the Forum, their families, and their friends.
