AF Dude,
Thanks for posting these videos of advocates speaking at the Washington, DC Advocacy Summit. I, for one, sincerely appreciate the time and effort of these 300 people -- adults and children -- that met with members of Congress to represent and to speak on behalf of all of us, who cope with one of the many forms of arthritis, and the daily challenges they present.
Today, much more can be done to better manage these diseases, than when I was diagnosed over 30 years ago. But for those that lack access to rheumatologists for care and costly prescription meds like biologics, diseases like RA can still be crippling and devastating. For children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, we need more pediatric rheumatologists so they get appropriate treatment and in order to one day find a cure, we need more research funding. I hope others here on the forum, will join with these advocates, and contact their Senators and U.S. Representative to urge their support for the Arthritis Prevention, Control and Cure Act.
P.S. I wanted to added a special thank you, to 11 year old Caitlin Ryan. She has had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 3, and last summer had a hip replacement. Despite all this young girl deals with, she made the trip to our nation's Capitol to urge members of Congress to support and pass the Arthritis Prevention, Control and Cure Act. A very special thank you to this young activist.
Her story appears in the recent edition of ARTHRITIS TODAY.
